Tim Flannery Sunlight and Seaweed

Scientist and author Tim Flannery explains how innovative use of existing technologies can make positive changes for the future.

In the first of a series of special #uts4climate interviews with leading thinkers, Professor Bob Carr sits down with Australia’s best-known climate author and scientist Tim Flannery.

Using Flannery’s 2017 book Sunlight and Seaweed, as a reference point, the pair discuss innovative ways existing technologies and resources can be harnessed to fight the effects of climate change – including how mid-ocean kelp farming could draw down CO2 from the atmosphere – and emphasise the urgent need to begin this work.
